Founded in 1946 by their grandfather, Mário Barbeito de Vasconcelos, the company Vinhos Barbeito has always been managed by members of the family.
At the time of its establishment, there were over 30 companies producing and exporting Madeira wine. Step by step, their grandfather gained clients in many countries, always striving to build strong and close relationships with them. Some of their current clients and suppliers are still from his time.
In 1985, upon the passing of their grandfather, their mother, Manuela de Vasconcelos, took over the management of the company, as she had been working at Vinhos Barbeito since 1976.
One of the most important tasks for their mother was to continue the work initiated by Mário Barbeito, through regular visits to importers and participation in trade fairs. Currently, maintaining proximity with their clients and suppliers continues to be part of their philosophy.
