This rare viticultural landscape makes Colares one of the most distinctive wine regions in Portugal.
– Arenae Tinto by Adega Regional de Colares: This red wine is crafted exclusively from the Ramisco grape variety, native to the Colares region. This wine exhibits a light to medium body with notable acidity and firm tannins. Flavors include cherry, leather, and tobacco, complemented by pepper and balsamic notes. The wine undergoes extended aging in large, old Brazilian mahogany casks, contributing to its unique character.
– DOC Ramisco 2014 by Casal de Santa Maria: Sourced from pre-phylloxera vines planted in the 19th century, this wine is made entirely from the Ramisco grape. The 2014 vintage experienced high temperatures and above-average rainfall, leading to a late harvest.
