It’s not just one of our best-sellers; it’s a tribute to our late mother, Teresa Pereira Caldas de Vasconcellos (1941-2017), whose legacy continues to inspire and guide us. She was primarily an artist and university professor but she was also a passionate lover of nature–witnessing the grapes grow and the cycles of nature unfold was a big deal for her.

Our mother’s vision and comforting words during times of change remind us to believe in ourselves and what we stand for. We were taught early on about embracing change, navigating uncertainties and thrive against all odds. Her memory fuels us to be creative, not be afraid of taking risks. She keeps on pushing us to continuously evolve.

This and every bottle of Castelão is a testament to her life and values. It embodies her belief in the essence of place, the importance of vision but most importantly to keep on trying. As we honor her memory, we invite you to share in the journey and the passion that goes into this wine, with a beautifully hand-written doodle she once made.
