decided, each in their vineyards, to choose
a special portion, representative of the

Mendes selected Alvarinho from Parcela do
Paço, in Quinta da Torre, in Monção. Mario
Sérgio harvested the Bical grapes from Vinha do
Cabeço, in Quinta das Bágeiras.
GRAPES AND WINE
Alvarinho and Bical are two excellent grape varieties,
adapted to temperate climates influenced
Atlantic. Alvarinho from Quinta da Torre
arises in the soil of river terraces with origin
granite. The Bical of Quinta das Bágeiras
grows in clayey soil with strong
limestone component.
The musts fermented in used barrels
of French oak, 400 liters in the case of
Alvarinho and 500 liters in the case of Bical.
Both aged for 9 months in barrels. AND
in June 2021, Bical produced in
Bairrada traveled to Anselmo’s wine cellar
Mendes, in Melgaço, where he joined the
Alvarinho, in equal proportion, with the lot being
bottled shortly afterwards.
The result? A wine of enormous elegance
and mineral and fruity expression, served by a
