Muros Antigos Alvarinho

9.00

Description

Muros Antigos Alvarinho is produced in
the sub-region of Monção and Melgaço
from the illustrious Alvarinho grape variety.
This sub-region is surrounded by
a group of mountains on the Spanish
border, thus becoming a moderate climate
with a unique combination between
precipitation, temperature and luminosity
required for the perfect maturation of the
grapes. This wine originates from sunny
vineyards on the hillside, with granite soils
and poor in organic matter and clay. It is
one of the first to be harvested in order
to obtain its unique aromatic freshness.

Vinification
Handpicked grapes into small boxes and
carried to the winery in a short period of
time. Pressing of the whole de-stemmed
grape. Cold clarification for 48-72h. Long
fermentation at low temperatures of 14-
18ºC. Minimum 3 month ageing on fine
lees with regular bâtonnage.

Tasting notes
A very aromatic wine, with aromas of
stone fruit such as apricot and yellow
plum. On the palate, it is fresh and has
a fine acidity together with a slightly
marked minerality. Persistent, it has a
long, complex finish that demonstrates
the structure of Alvarinho in a wine of
excellence. Should be served at 11-13°C.
