Description
Riesling is one of the most versatile and surprising grape varieties. It is very well adapted to cool climates such as Germany, as well as temperate and hot climates such as Australia. In both cases, it always produces excellent wines. $ By taking advantage of the unique conditions that the Mateus terroir offers for the production of this type of wine, with a mixture of cool, temperate and warm climates, we have managed to create a wine with the freshness and acidity of cool climates and the concentration and density of temperate and hot climates. To this end, we carried out two harvests. The first to obtain the acidity and aromatic freshness and the second to obtain the desired ripeness and concentration.
After fermentation, the wine was aged in stainless steel until bottling. During part of the ageing process, the wine underwent a weekly bâtonna- ge, giving it more structure and complexity. Bottling took place 7 months after the harvest.
Lemon yellow color. Exuberant aroma with a predominance of citrus fruit such as lime, lemon and orange peel, tropical fruit such as pineapple and mineral aromas such as graphite and petroleum. In the mouth, it confirms the complexity shown on the nose, revealing its superb acidity and freshness surrounded by layers of fruit and mineral notes. It finishes long and persistent.
