In the 1950s, António Ribeiro and Maria do Céu began their agricultural venture with the purchase of Quinta de S. Tiago and Quinta da Portela in Mesão Frio. In 1980, their daughter Teresinha and her husband, Eduardo Miranda, began restoring the vineyards that later became their own. While working outside agriculture, they sold most of their produce to exporters, keeping only small amounts for local use.
Their sons — Roberto, Ricardo, Rafael, and Rudolfo — later joined the business, studying management and viticulture, and expanding with Quinta de Sequeirós (winery site), Quinta d’Além Tanha (old vineyards), and Quinta do Farfão in the Upper Douro.
Believing the Douro’s unique vineyards could produce exceptional wines, the family launched their first label, “MÃOS” — a tribute to the hard work from vineyard to bottle and the family’s united pursuit of excellence.
