MESSIAS was founded in 1926 by Mr. Messias Baptista, in Mealhada. Until this day, the management is held by his descendants. Since the beginning MESSIAS produces high quality wines from several demarcated regions: Bairrada, Dão, Douro, Vinho Verde and Port Wine. The company is also known for the high quality of their Sparkling Wines made in the Champagne method and aged Brandies. The company’s headquarters are in Mealhada. It also has facilities in V. N. Gaia and vineyards in the regions of Bairrada (Quinta do Valdoeiro) Dão (Quinta do Penedo) and Douro (Quinta do Cachão), combining a wine heritage of over 300 hectares. The most demanding international markets recognize the quality of the MESSIAS products, as 70% of the production is exported to the five continents.
