Founded in 1989, Bágeiras is a family-owned winery in the Bairrada region, created by bringing together vineyards inherited from the founder’s grandparents. With the support of his father, Abel, vineyards that once supplied bulk wine production were transformed into a winery producing and bottling wines under its own label. The estate later expanded to 28 hectares located in some of Bairrada’s finest terroirs.
Bágeiras combines traditional winemaking methods with modern advances in viticulture and oenology. Grapes are harvested by hand, red wines are made in traditional lagares without added yeasts, and sparkling wines contain no residual sugar. The family’s philosophy is that true quality must be accompanied by authenticity and a strong sense of identity, reflecting a passion for wine that has been passed down through three generations.
